- Correspondence: Thank yous were given to our mornings presenters Kid Care reps Joanne Briggs and State immunization program director John Anderson. All members were encouraged to email Thank yous.
- Treasure's report: Carol Boal (posted on web site) reports were past out for the new budget and summary of 06 07 expenses. WNA lobby allotment was missed but will be paid. We lose our tax free status if we have more than a total of $25,000.
- National Director Report: Chris Bartholmew See report. All can get on legislative list serve. The question was asked "What keeps school nurse awake at night?”Chris said that all demands and State Board of Nurses don’t understand ei. Epi and glucagon. Also a concern about the rational of one nurse in every school how will this work in small schools. There are new training modules on leadership and new resource on Influenza. Chris is on the Executive, By Laws, Ethics, membership survey, Positions and Issues briefs committees. Everything will be moved to DC by May.

- School nurse of the year Traveling trophy and plaque presented to Tamara Walsh.
- Committee breakout session and reports
- Legislative/web site – Summit report by Suzey Delger who attended the committee to look at Wyoming’s nurse shortage. The average age of nurses in Wy is 48. There were 3 school nurses at the meeting. Suzey ask to support WNA lobbyist Toni Deck ledge with $1000 to help us lobby for a state school nurse consultant and on other school nurses issues. Suzey suggested that instead of “a nurse in every school” define as to “area of coverage” and “insuring health coverage”. The state committee Suzey attended is called the Nursing Workforce Center. It is applying for a grant from the Robert Wood Foundation. The committee has reps from U W, Wyoming Department of Employment, State Board of Nursing Recruit, retirement, retention. They need partnerships Suzey is asking WSNA to fund $1500 per year for two years.
- It is being looked at to open the state immunization law. It would be an opportunity to ask for mandatory immunization records at registration.
- Legislative days are in Feb. as many members need to be at as possible. State Board of Nursing will be able to get license on line 2008. Compact State licensure may come up. State Board of Nursing says it will lose $500,000 and may lose nurses to other states. Background check is not done. Sharon King moved we donate $1000 to WNA to support lobbyist for this year 2nd Wendy Wilson. Chris Bartholomew asked if are we setting precedence. We need to reevaluate next year. We will ask the lobbyist to focus on State school nurse consultant, more school nurses and immunization records at registration. Motion by Jan Nykodym 2nd by Sharon King that WSNA commits to the Wy Work Force Center $1000 for 1 year. Discussion. Tamie called for the question - 1 against motion past. - Education - see report discussed distance learning have speakers at difference sites Date for spring meeting changed to May 3, 2008. Motion to accept report by Kathy David 2nd Ruth Burns report accepted.
- Finance/membership/PR – see report Carol Boal moved to accept report 2nd Connie Avey report accepted. Carol will work on July New Nurse Orientation.
- Old Business
- Scholarships: applications will be on website Carol will give to Michelle.
- Regional Reps: Alicen will continue to work with. Can use Wy School directory to find district nurses. All principals have it.
- Website: Michelle will do a workshop tomorrow
- New Business
- New liaison State Dept of Ed. Kristen Rivere she is not a nurse.
- Practice/orientation manual discussed
- School Nurse Orientation Carol Boal moved and Connie Avey 2nd to designate $1000 to use for workshop in July.

Committee Goals:
- Short term (next several months)
- We recommend, WSNA support of WNA Lobbyist Toni Decklever, we will ask her to support a State School Nurse Consultant position @ Dept of ED. We recommend we send $1,000 to the WNA for this effort.
- We also recommend support the UW efforts to secure a grant from the Robert Woods Fdn for a “Nursing Work Force Center” in the amount of $1,500 spread over two years.
- We recommend that the Immunization law be stated that a child cannot be registered without proof of adequate Immunizations, and delete the 30 day grace period.
- Long term (1-2 years)
- 1 nurse/per LPN/STD aging pop position
- Plans for implementation/Specific assignments: Legislative Days –in February. Perhaps the Cheyenne Nurses can represent WSNA.
- Suzey also reported the SBON will offer on line renewal of licensing by 2008 renewal date. They also discussed the issue of the Nursing Compact License, and that because we were NOT yet a “compact” state, they found a nurse trying to get a Wyoming License who had a felony record. This probably wouldn’t have been caught if we had been a compact state.

- Change Mary Ito Scholarship wording to “ this scholarship is available to those members whose districts do not give full financial support for attending WSNA workshops/meeting. All applications must be submitted to the treasurer and a drawing will be held at each WSNA meeting for the winner of the scholarship.”
- Note books for all officers to be handed over at April meeting.

- TBD: continue to compare/monitor WSNA to NASN bylaws.
